What You Have Had to Say:
22 Dec 2004
1.
What is happening with Ford is that he is educated, intelligent, comes from a very strong political background and is half white. This is not a trite racist statement. If Mr. Bailes has accurately reported Mr. Ford’s statements, one can clearly see the leaks in his platform. He is coming from the notion that since he is Black, his People will back him no matter what, and all he has to do is butter up to the whites... pull a white placating act. (from Wade Swicord who said MORE here)
2.
I rather liked the story of how Lincoln appeared to Bush in a dream. Bush asked him : How can I best serve the nation as you did? Lincoln's reply: GO TO THE THEATER. (from Ed Cahill)
3.
I also have heard that when you find a penny it means that someone that has gone on has thought of you, one of your guardian angels. (from Margaret Hill)
4.
When I was in Guatemala you could pick up coins on the street all day long. They were gold colored little beauties, a bit smaller than a dime. If I recall, their denomination was one Quetzal and there was a relief of the long tailed Quetzal bird on one side of the coin. They had a value of about a tenth of a cent. The citizens of Guatemala were so angry and disgusted at their government for devaluing their money that they threw these coins on the ground as an act of rebellion. The practice was widespread too. Some people would just leave them on the counter at a store but most would throw them on the sidewalk as they walked out of the store. (from Paul Whiting)
5.
Good idea. Ford is a Democrat(?) with a Bush/Republican accent. It takes all kinds of Democrats to make the Democratic Party in this country. No two are just alike. Ford is too far to the right, or into the "red," to be representing my idea of what a Democrat is nowadays -- reminds me of Demo-turned-Repub, former Georgia Gov. Zell Miller (all pure-Red now). (from William Adkins)
6.
This [story on Pilgrim's Progressives] was wonderful. I saw some typos but I do love how you did it, thanks. Can I share it? (from Johnny Mingus)
7.
Thank you for sharing that with me. I thoroughly enjoyed that. Story-telling is an art lost in this wretched fundamentalist society. It can be what sparks the fire. President Bill Clinton comes from that community of people who learned to communicate through stories. So happens, I had a dream last night that I shook hands with Bill Clinton. He had a serious look on his face and looked very distressed. (from Dan in Tampa)

In essence you have taken a stand. A stand that has been taken by many before you in one manner or another, but few if any are unable to venture into the kind of waters you are able to wade. This said it goes beyond further explanation that you must stand your ground. This is your creation, your chosen field. Let none take away an ounce of it. If they have rebuttals, feedback, etc., great. Heck even complaints are wonderful as well as suggestions since it means you are reaching people. You are touching their minds, you are getting them to react. probably more so than they have in years! (from Michael in Chattanooga)
9.
America is great! vs. America sucks!... hmmm: kinda depends on whether you're a CEO or a hungry kid in an inner city slum, wouldn't you think??? Ditto on the merits of capitalism. (from Sadie who said MORE here)
10.
Fundamentally, what I appreciated most about Harold Ford was that he sounds like he's spoiling for a fight. I think he's ready to take it to these right-wing, backward SOBs. If we have to learn to punch our way off the ropes, I think he'll come out swinging. (from B. Johnson)
